A New Dawn: Meet the Future of UK Nightlife

Clockwise is proud to present A New Dawn, a 20-minute documentary about the future of UK nightlife.

We were first approached by ticketing firm Eventbrite a few months ago about the possibility of producing a nightlife documentary.

It’s a subject which has received a huge amount of coverage in recent years and so we knew we would have to find a new angle to make the film work.

While acknowledging the many challenges facing nightlife, we wanted to profile some of the creative and passionate individuals working to create a positive future for the scene.

The film premiered last night at an event at the Pickle Factory in east London and launched simultaneously online at the NME website.

Broadcaster and journalist Kate Hutchinson hosted a lively panel debate about some of the subjects touched upon in the film - including street food, day parties, Instagram, and gentrification...

A big thank you to all our panellists: Oli Keens, nightlife editor at Time Out; Alan Miller, chairman at the Night Time Industries Association, Hannah Ross of the Partisan Collective; and Johnno Burgess, promoter of Field Day, Mighty Hoopla, and Bugged Out.

The overriding theme of the documentary is that it’s not all doom and gloom in the nightlife industry and we hope it helps to inspire debate and support the UK nightlife scene.

We’re lucky to live in a time where we’re so spoilt for choice in nightlife (and daylife) options, so let’s get out there and make the most of it!
